Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
Rose—a girl who looks sweet and acts sweet, but holds a distinct apathy for pretty much everyone. She’s the kind of girl who would sell her mother if it meant her life. To make up for it, she can be quite charming company to be around, but the words that come out her mouth have an ocean’s worth of salt in them. She cares little for personal or social status. Trust her at your own risk.
She was born to the streets of Fastaluc, brought up with the violence and hunger that is endemic to any gifted there. She was raised by an addict mother and a cheating, no-good father who thrived on abusing his close family. Lips learned to lie early in order to stay out of her father’s sights, including putting the blame on her various and numerous siblings and half-siblings. Life was as usual until Rose turned nine and the truth of her gifted abilities came clear. She wasn’t the only one in her family, but she was by far the strongest her parents had produced. Her elder sister, Ivy, moderately skilled in the fire element, enjoyed holding an open flame to Rose’s skin if Ivy was ever targeted by their father. It started the first time Rose lied, but it became obvious that Ivy wasn’t going to stop even after Rose started ratting out other, less dangerous siblings.
Ivy had Rose’s arm tight in her grip and was busy searing one of her fingertips when suddenly the ground bucked and burst underneath Ivy. The older girl tripped and fell to the ground and within moments one of her legs was trapped in a hole of loosened soil and pebbles. Rose left her there overnight. Ivy stopped bothering her after that.
At fifteen, her mother died (unsurprisingly, from an overdose) and her father was arrested soon after that. Suddenly the head of the household, Ivy made it obvious that she wasn’t going to let Rose stay for very long in their hovel. It was either leave or stay, buried under the rotting floorboards.
She stayed only a few months in Fastaluc before it became obvious that she wasn’t going to achieve anything there. She hitchhiked her way to Occide, following the whispers of a Gifted paradise. She didn’t quite believe all the stories, but she was getting desperate for a roof over her head and some food.
Some days before reaching Ennui, she ran into some OSR members who weren't too fond of the idea that a Gifted was running wild around Occide. There was some debate about what to do with her (while she was wondering if she needed to bust herself out of there) when they came to the conclusion that if she really wanted to be a student at Ennui, why stop her? They escorted her the rest of the way there and she's now a week into her term.
